Prayer Minstries
We recognize the essential value of prayer
in all that we do at First Baptist.
We offer numerous weekly prayer opportunities
as well as special prayer groups and
a 24-hour prayer request hotline.
24-Hour Prayer Line: (215) 345-5802.
Prayer requests can also be sent to our prayer coordinator through the "Prayer Request" link below.

"Prayer Room"
A place for prayer is provided (Room 307 in Fellowship Hall) every Sunday from 8:30am to 12:00noon. We invite anyone who needs to pray alone or with another to feel welcome to this place of prayer. We also invite those called to pray for Pastor Dan’s anointing as he preaches, for the Holy Spirit to be felt among our congregation, for the unsaved in our congregation to meet the Savior, and for the ears of our believers to be open to teaching and growing, correction, and encouragement.
“Prayer Closet"
Located beside the main church offices, our Prayer Closet is available for a more intimate prayer setting and is open from 8:00am-12:30pm Sundays. The "Prayer Closet" is also used by our small prayer ministry groups, Pray USA -- Mondays 7:00-8:30pm, and First Friday Prayer and Fast -- first Fridays of every month 4:30-6:00pm.
Sunday Morning Prayer Walk
The enemy roams around looking for whom he might devour. Spiritual battles can rage within our church walls. Prayer warriors are needed to come on Sunday mornings and pray through our building for cleansing and the working of the Holy Spirit. The children’s Sunday school rooms, youth rooms, and auditorium are real threats to the enemy, and so we pray for protection and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in our place of worship and Bible study. Walk begins at 8:15am and meets in the prayer room. If you would like more information on this ministry, please call the church office at (215) 348-5210
Pray for the Children
Sunday School, Awana, and the numerous other activities of our children is the focus of prayer in this ministry which meets Sunday mornings at 8:30 am in the Prayer Room. All are welcomed to join us in this time of prayer for our FBC children. If you would like more information on this ministry or would like to get involved, please call the church office at (215) 348-5210.
Pray USA
This group meets every Monday from 7:00-8:30pm in the Prayer Closet, located near the church office, to intercede for our local, state, and national government, and for the pervading problems directed at the youth of our nation. If you would like more information on this ministry, please call the church office at (215) 348-5210.
24-Hour Prayer Line
This valuable ministry has blessed our church family and friends greatly since it began in May 1999. Prayer warriors call in one hour each week to pray over the needs of our church. In its first 20 months of operation, 767 phone requests were called in. Of those, 307 were “Hallelujah” messages praising God for affirmative answers to the prayers requested. To leave a request, call (215) 345-5802. We do have one-hour prayer time slots available if you would like to be a part of this ministry. If you are interested in more information on how to get involved in the 24-hour Prayer Line, please call the church office at (215)348-5210.
E-mail Prayer Team
This group of prayer warriors receives emergency prayer requests as soon as they are received and have committed to pray over the requests as they come in. We have seen many amazing answers to the prayers of this group. If you would like to become a part of this team or would like more information, call the church office at (215) 348-5210.
First Friday Prayer and Fast
This group of our people is dedicated to fast and pray on the first Friday of each month. There is a specific prayer focus given for each of these Friday fasts. If you are interested in receiving the monthly prayer focus or would like more information on this ministry, please call the church office at (215)348-5210.
Potluck Prayer Meeting
Our Potluck Prayer Meeting meets quarterly. All of our prayer ministries meet together for a time of food, fellowship, and prayer. All are invited. The admission price is a casserole, salad, dessert, or drink to share with all. Check the FBC web-site calendar or call the church office at (215) 348-5210 for the date of our next Potluck Prayer Meeting.
Children at Prayer
Our FBC children are given the opportunity to learn what the meaning of "intercessory prayer" is. Our first "Children's Prayer Workshop" was held this past summer. The kids were involved in "laying on of hands" prayer over our special guests, Alan Held (a professional opera performer), Dan Young (our senior pastor), Dave Cooper (an airline pilot), Dean Mellen (our pastor of Spiritual Formation), and Wayne Finkbeiner (a physics instructor... Wayne showed the kids how to fly). Each guest shared the specific prayer needs of those in their profession. It was so humbling watching and listening as each guest knelt down and allowed the children to lay-on their hands and pray over the needs of each guest's needs. We are looking forward to sharing more with the children at the next workshop (still in the planning stages). For more information on this ministry and future workshops, please call the church office at (215) 348-5210.
Pastoral Prayer Support Team
This team of men prayer warriors commits itself to pray for our pastoral staff and for our other staff members. They meet with Pastor Dan for prayer before church, and several times a year for a "Prayer Breakfast." Because leaders of God's work are always special targets of the enemy, Satan, this support team prays for our staff - their ongoing protection, strength, courage, wisdom, guidance, and anointing.
Pastors' Wives Prayer Support Team
This team of prayer warriors facilitated by the FBC Sister-to-Sister Team prays for the wives of the staff. We recognize the important role these women play in the successful ministry of First Baptist Church. Pastoral families are under ongoing spiritual attack. This team prays for their protection, strength, courage, wisdom, and guidance.
